We started out with going through the vocabulary for the planting activity with a quiz game which the kids loved.
Kids love to feel the soil and its healthy for their immune system too. Of course we wash our hands afterwards.
The beauty of Mandarin PIE club is that children of different ages and Mandarin proficiencies are together. There are native and non-native speakers. They learn from each other.
Some of the older kids who can speak Mandarin fluently are great role models for the kids.
Teachers only speak Mandarin. In this immersion style, children who don’t understand are actively learning, those who do get to use their Mandarin skills in an interesting context.
Latest update, one week later the seeds have sprouted and our kids are super excited. We hope the kids will take care of their plants well and welcome nature into their lives.
